Victor Patrick (VP) Alvarez  has known since a young age that his mission in life is to uplift those around him and support raising a greater consciousness. Ever since he was a child, VP held a fascination with films and the stories they tell. From super hero adventures to comedies like “Wag the Dog” and even dramas such as “Good Will Hunting,” VP finds truth in all of it. It has been his dream to use this medium to entertain and influence people, and for this reason VP has dedicated his life to film and telling the stories of this world.

VP got his start as a scholarship student of the Sante Fe College theater program. He began his journey as an actor, stage hand, and set designer. He credits these studies as his first step on the road to becoming a great storyteller. A total immersion into stage and lightening design and live performances began to shape the future filmmaker. Victor understood that organic nature of theater is an essential perspective for a great director to have. He believes that collaboration, technology, and communication have the potential to move society in a positive direction, and he plans to incorporate these facets into his contributions to real stories of our modern society.

Toward the end of his theatrical studies, VP sold his car in order to buy a high-definition camera. He moved to New York City and attended Brooklyn College to study filmmaking. While there, he scored the rare opportunity to direct, shoot, and edit his first documentary with the late great Brittany Murphy. Upon completing the film, getting it distributed was VP’s first break as a documentarian. While still in film school, he realized that journalism and documentaries were his calling. VP believes that people who make documentaries have a responsibility to tell the truth and that he was destined to be one of those filmmakers.

After graduating film school, VP was given the chance to collaborate with filmmaker Jose Enrique Pardo on a film that chronicles the migration of over 2 million Cubans.  Having grown up in a Cuban-American household, VP's family story was always a mystery to him. Understandably, the project resonated with him on a deeply personal level... Both his parents were separated from their families as teenagers, and he always had many questions regarding the culture of his parents and grandparents. VP subconsciously devoted his efforts toward understanding these aspects of his roots and completed the documentary in 2013.

The resulting endeavor became the critically acclaimed film “Cubamerican.” It was completed in 2013 and has since played at several film festivals as well as airing on public television in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and South Florida. Proud and inspired, VP proceeded to found "the Mindfull Company", a production company dedicated to documentaries , journalistic content, and internet marketing. Mindfull’s first undertaking was a television series exploiting the world of natural medicine. Filming took VP to Taiwan, Indonesia, and Borneo, and the series was eventually picked up by ABC. VP hopes that the series will help audiences realize that the Earth provides all remedies.

Next, VP had the good fortune to collaborate with fellow Cuban-American Janelle Gueits on a film about her travels to Cuba to connect with her indigenous counterparts. Producing and editing the film “13 Million Voices” is a milestone on VP's journey as a Cubamerican Filmmaker. The film documents one of the biggest peace concerts in the world. It focuses on the notion of a foreign musician organizing the concert and highlights the current struggle of Cuba’s youth connecting with the modern world. This is the first feature documentary in collaboration with the Mindfull Company.

Most recently, Victor has enjoyed the liberty of traveling to his parents’ homeland to document the first collaboration between an American Broadway musical and the blossoming musical theater scene in Havana. The most important film of his career to date, VP cannot wait to show the world the potential of Cuban and American relations and the power of cultural exchange. This documentary is set to release end of 2019 beginning of 2020.

Although VP mainly works as a producer/director, he still will edit anything. Recently, VP was also fortunate enough to work on award winning "Black Man in America" which was an experimental dance film that has played in oseveral film festivals. Black man in America was also the official selection of San Francisco Dance Film Festival in 2019.

VP has also recently jumped in front of the screen as the lead character in the critically acclaimed short film "Fenced." VP  was also fortunate enough to win best actor at the Cross Over Film Festival. VP wants to continue acting and is choosing his roles very carefully.

VP also remains deeply committed to supporting his community, having served as a camp counselor at Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, a recreational camp for children with cancer and their families. He plans to merge his passion for storytelling and being an advocate for positive social change through both his work behind the camera and his volunteerism.
